You can associate a calendar event with any of your Better contacts, and you'll see their profile picture on the event. They won't be aware or notified, this information is private.
I call them lists, you know them as CaLeNdArS. One thing that drove me crazy about calendar apps is how hard it is to manage and create new calendars. I don't want to create a new calendar, the action sounds too serious. I just want to put some events on a list.
In Better, you can easily create and manage lists, add an emoji to each list (duh), and toggle their visibility.
Speaking of toggling, you can also easily toggle the visibility of events by type: Event, Time block, Todo, Routine, Habit, etc.)
You can schedule your existing todos or add new todos directly in the planner.
You can schedule habits and routines directly in the planner. You can also make them recurring.
Routines will automatically have the combined duration of all the habits in the routine. This way you don't need to manually modify ad estimate the duration of your routines.
One thing that bothered me about calendars is that I have to manually schedule a "travel to" and "travel back from" events for errands, etc. Then if my event moves, I have to move the additional events with it. In the Better Planner you can specify how you're planning to get to and from the event, and you'll get 2 travel events that automatically move with the main event. Nifty!
Easily navigate to any year, month, and day.
You can send an invite to any Better user so you can share an list with them. You can also grant them granular permissions for what they can do.
Here's an example of a line event: departure time for a train. The event doesn't have a "from" and "to", the train just leaves at 15:30 and that's it. So if you create an event where the start/end times are the same, it will show as a line in your planner. You can put these events on a special list like "Train Times" and easily toggle them on/off so you can plan your day accordingly.
Better's Home page shows you everything about your day, including your agenda on the right side. There's also a new widget that shows your upcoming events for the day, and you can choose which types of events you want to see.
Sometimes, you can't complete a task because you're waiting for someone else or something to happen. In this case, you can mark the task as "waiting" and add a note about what you're waiting for.
In your task overview, you'll have a separate section for "waiting" tasks. This way, you can check daily if you continue with the task.
Locations is a feature that works similarly to Activities. You can add all the places you've been to, like countries, cities, cafes, beaches, or any other place. Then, you can see when you last visited each place.
When you log an activity, you can also add which contacts you did it with and where you did it. This helps you keep track of the last time you did something with a particular person at a particular place.
Contacts, Activities, and Locations can be used together to help you stay organized and remember when you last did things.
Instead of scheduling your todos one by one, In the planner you can schedule Time Blocks, and each Time Block can have its own todos.
Your habits will turn golden when you complete a part of your day, like the morning. This is inspired by the Streaks app and is meant to give you extra motivation that we all need sometimes. ๐ช
I personally like to plan my day in 15 minute increments. Apps like Google Calendar make this impossible. In Better, you can easily and instantly switch your calendar between 15/30/60 minute time slots without going to a special settings dialog to find the setting buried within.
Do you want to do many things and hobbies in life, but you're mostly stuck doing the same mundane activities like watching TV, wasting time on your phone, and doing bullshit? Same. But I'm trying to be ... better.
You can list all the activities that you want to do in life, and then log when you do an activity, and with which contact you did it. Then you'll see a label that shows you how long ago you've done this activity. Hopefully this will nugde and motivate you to do some activities that you haven't done in a long time.
In the future, Better will help you integrate this activities in your life.
You can add people that you care about in your life to Better, along with their birthday, address, etc. Their birthdays will appear in the Planner.
You can also associate your Planner events with a Contact (they won't be notified of this).
